The best times I ever had in Charlotte were celebrated at Forum. It helped me turn 21 in style for what I can remember. And it was a perfect place for graduation night. As we go into the hottest part of the summer well have to survive without one of the best places to party. Saturday Forum threw their last party before closing down for their renovation. All the stops were pulled out, search lights at the entrance and everyone dressed like movie stars. It was a huge VIP party and everyone was invited.

At some point in the night whether it be a Tuesday or a Saturday, the person you meet who will make or break your night is not the bartender or that cute girl you want to talk to. It's the door guy. They are the front line for weeding people out who might cause trouble and who abide by the rules of the club and bar. I can remember countless occasions watching my guy friends fret about what to wear: because the worst thing that could ever happen to you is you get excited about going and get denied at the door because you're not wearing black shoes. Everyone knows this feeling, even women. It's the five second stare they take at your license, even though you've been over the age of 21 for longer then you want to mention. The possibility you might not get in and look like a loser is terrifying. So, for those who need help getting on the good side of the door guy here are a few tips.

The Charlotte skyline at night is absolutley beautiful. The lights of the city radiate out from the darkness surrounding it. With its amazing architechtures and glittering lights from the NASCAR Hall of Fame and the new Duke Energy building even the most skeptical out of towner has to admit: Charlotte is beautiful at night. Loft 1523 has taken advantage of this gorgeous skyline and incredible city to bring one of the best lounges in town. Located on Elizabeth Avenue a few blocks outside of uptown parking is plenty and there is no fighting for sidewalk as you're walking in. Finding the door is a bit hard to find if you're parked on the street. It's located on the backside of the building and I saw several people walking around with a lost look on their face. You can either take and elevator, with makes it feel like you're going to some posh party only a few are invited to or get your workout for the day in and walk the stairs. Personally I'm lazy and so elevator it is.

St. Patrick's Day usually conjures up images of shamrocks, red hair and a whole lot of beer. All over the country people don "Kiss me I'm Irish" t-shirts and green apparel; this all while downing as much beer they can possibly drink. It's a day everyone is Irish. Crowds and crowds of people went out for St. Patrick's Day all over the country. I mean if there was any other holiday meant to just have fun for a full day, I can't really think of it. It's a day when girls can be free of thinking about what shoes to match their outfit and a a t-shirt and jeans are all you need to get in. All in all a perfect day, yes? Lets see, food, beer, friends...what is missing? Oh yes, waiting in line for an hour to get a t-shirt for a pub crawl and another hour just to get into a bar: paying cover charges to get into every place you go, even your DD.

"It's just good music if you can feel it in your soul" Tim McGraw. Music has always had a way of bringing people together. It's also always been a way to help those in need. Think U2 and Bono. Leave it to Tremont Music Hall to take the initiative to help with the Haiti relief effort.

As a country girl raised in front of a farm in Maryland, I had always thought city life was the type of life I wanted. There always seemed to be something going on, somewhere to go and something new to try. After going to college at Wingate University outside of Charlotte, I moved back to Maryland and found a home in Baltimore. City life charmed me, I loved being able to walk around, people watch and find a favorite bar in great neighborhoods.
Life stepped in and offered me the chance to live in South Korea and teach English for a year. After I went to Central America, an experience that completely changed my life. Maybe it was something in the beer? I returned Stateside and after slugging it out in Myrtle Beach for a few months I decided to move back to Charlotte and couldn't be happier. I've always found Charlotte an interesting mix of it's Southern heritage and cosmopolitan change.
