The Charlotte Bobcats officially adopted the “Hornets” moniker this week; officially retiring from their cat logo. Impressively, they launched a new website and social media accounts to reflect the name change instantaneous with the Bobcats' retirement.
For those of you who are transplants like me, the Charlotte Hornets' logo reinstatement is history, as the Bobcats have taken residency at Time Warner Cable Arena for the past 10 years.
After a research, the renaming of the Hornets dates back to Charlotte history ofthe 1700s, when the British General Charles Cornwallis compared the resistance in Charlotte to a hornet’s nest. In other words, Cornwallis saw the city of Charlotte full of rebelliousness, aggressiveness and loyal protectors. Pretty badass history if you ask me.
With the new team name comes a killer hornet logo that entwines past and present logos with a palette of teal and purple. The hornet's body? A basketball.
The organization’s new branding and logo comes with its new website, (Hornets.com) and new uniforms, which are said to be unveiled June 19th.
Welcome home Hornets!

Dont Draft Cam Newton: I know this will be hard for a lot of you, but Cams in for the dreaded sophomore slump. There is just no way he comes close to posting the same numbers he did last year. Hes not gonna rush for 14 TDs again. To be honest, he wont come anywhere close to that number. The Panthers ignored their need for more receivers and added depth to the running game. Cam scored most of his rushing TDs jumping over the pile at the goal line, but with the addition of Tolbert (who is a vulture for goal line TDs; 19 TDs in the last two seasons), Cam should see these carries decrease. Honestly I think the Panthers added Tolbert as an attempt to protect Cam. Fans may love seeing Cam go up and over the pile, but I promise you the Panthers front office holds their breath every time. Cams rushing numbers arent the only stat thats gonna to fall off, expect his passing numbers to dwindle as well. Cam tossed for at least 374 yards in 3 of his first 4 games. After that, he averaged only 217 passing yards and threw only 16 TDs the rest of the season. I know what youre gonna say: Cam did this all without an offseason! I agree, but the Panthers did nothing to improve their passing game and Steve Smith isnt getting any younger. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Cam unless he falls to you in a spot where you feel like you have to take him.
