As the days go by and the sun shines on it's officially the time to start yearning for the beach. Thankfully being in Charlotte you have a multitude of beaches to choose from and as soon as 5pm hits that clock on Friday, you can hop in the car and head there. Here are my list of favorite beach towns and where to stay.
One of my favorite things about Myrtle beach is it's flip-flop reputation. One minute it's the "dirty myrtle" and the next it's "refined living". Of course these typically depend on if you're staying at the Boardwalk or North Myrtle. I personally like both but if you're looking to have some crazy fun this weekend definitely stay on the Boardwalk. My favorite hotel is the Bay View Resort because you can never go wrong with beach views and a lazy river!
This beach town is definitely a keeper in my books especially when you hit downtown at night and bar hop until you don't know where you are. Even during the day there are amazing horse tours, boutiques, incredible food and the market. The beach, however is beautiful and pristine and a short trip from staying downtown (which I highly suggest doing). The Andrew Pinckney Inn is a classic hotel in the center of it all with great rooms and good prices.
Of all the places to visit, Savannah has stolen my heart. The old southern charm is breathtaking and everything is truly walking distance. Savannah has some of the best restaurants in the south and of course some of the best drinking. Something important to point out is you can drink in public (no glass bottles) and most bars have a to-go station for this purpose. Tybee Island beach is close by and a beautiful site to relax but I definitely recommend staying in downtown for the walk home with drinks in tote and especially at The Inn at Ellis Square to be right in the action without the insane prices.
North Carolina may not be the Napa Valley of the East Coast but we sure do give it a run for it's money! With 85 vineyards in North Carolina alone as well as 18 in South Carolina you truly are spoiled for choice. With all these choices available, it is a great opportunity to treat you Mom tomorrow by getting her some local wine.
There are a lot of ways to enjoy the local varieties as well as some delicious grafted vines from all over the country and Europe including South Creek Vineyards. Since tomorrow is Mother's Day and we all appreciate how much our poor mother's do for us, so take her out to South Creek in Nebo, NC where they are celebrating with wine, music and cupcakes! Sounds like a perfect day to me - so check out their site and treat you mom: www.southcreekwinery.com.
If you want some variety there are plenty of amazing wine tours available but my favorite is North Carolina Wine Tours because they know how to roll in style as their tours are in a limousine! Even if you forgot about Mother's Day, go enjoy the tour with your closest girlfriends, treat your significant other, or just go and meet new friends!
Have a happy and wonderful Mother's Day!
Charlotte has quickly become one of the top cities to live in, work in and play in and it's not hard to see why. Many top corporations are moving their headquarters here and thus are bringing some of the countries top talented professionals.
So what happens after the work day is done and everyone wants to emerge from the cubicles? Luckily there is a great new solution for the hard-workers of Charlotte called AfterworkCLT.com. It is updated on a regular basis with amazing after work specials everyday of the week and features top businesses in uptown and the surrounding areas.
The best feature is their once a month networking group which helps people meet with 200+ individuals in different industries throughout Charlotte. You get the opportunity to join others with a few light apps and drinks from some great local restaurants for only $10. Keep an eye out for more information on the next date and location by following them on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. I know I'll be there!
Want to head out to Folly but don't want to drive? Call Shuttle Hogs as they now offer service between downtown from The Vendue Inn to Folly Beach at The Tides Hotel.
The rides are only $10 each way. Reservations are required by calling either hotel or Shuttle Hogs at 843-424-1323.
